- Research Interest Statement: My cancer research focuses on survivorship care and health-related quality of life among rural cancer survivors in Arkansas, with a particular emphasis on sexual health and illness intrusiveness. As Principal Investigator candidate for CHAMPS (Comprehensive Health Assessment for Men with Prostate Cancer Survivorship), a K99/R00 application, I employ an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design to examine how disease, treatment, and contextual factors contribute to illness intrusiveness among rural prostate cancer survivors — a population facing compounded barriers to post-treatment care. In parallel, I am preparing an FY26 NCI/DCCPS Administrative Supplement to generate the empirical foundation needed to develop an AI-based chatbot tool addressing illness intrusiveness across its three psychosocial domains (Instrumental, Intimacy, and Relationships and Personal Development) among rural pelvic floor cancer survivors. Both projects align with NCI priorities related to rural cancer disparities, patient-reported outcomes, and the development of technology-based survivorship interventions for medically underserved populations in the Southern United States.
