Cancer Research Interest
- Disease Site Focus: Breast
- Research Focus Area: Prevention
- Type of Research: Population Sciences
- Research Keywords: cardiometabolic dysfunction, cardiovascular outcome and toxicity, Breast Cancer survivors
- Research Interest Statement: My research interest is in how cardiometabolic risk factors like hypertension, obesity, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia interact with and affect cancer risk and outcomes, especially in different breast cancer subtypes. In the long term, I have a focus on diverse populations and aim to turn findings into practical tools for screening and risk stratification that reduce disparities. Currently at UAMS, I have been working on a project about cardiovascular toxicity and cardiometabolic health in breast cancer survivors in Arkansas. This project links the Arkansas All-Payer Claims Database, the Cancer Registry, and UAMS electronic health records to evaluate how social determinants of health shape outcomes. I am contributing to the design and conduct of both cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses and build simple, useful prediction models to find survivors at high risk for heart problems, so we can guide earlier care and prevention.
