Cancer Research Interest
- Disease Site Focus: Pediatric Oncology, Sarcoma, Musculoskeletal
- Research Focus Area: Treatment, Diagnosis/ Prognosis
- Type of Research: Clinical
- Research Keywords: Osteosarcoma, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, Ewing sarcoma, Soft tissue sarcoma, Adolescent and young adult oncology
- Research Interest Statement: I am a clinical investigator primarily focused on identifying novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of primary bone malignancies such as osteosarcoma. I am a member of the Bone Tumor Committee in the Children's Oncology Group and I am the Study Chair for the COG study AOST2032, a Phase 2/3 randomized study of the addition of the multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor cabozantinib to cytotoxic chemotherapy for patients with newly diagnosed osteosarcoma. My clinical interests align with efforts to improve overall medical and psychosocial care for adolescents and young adults with cancer who have unique needs that are often unmet by both pediatric and adult treatment settings and require dedicated programming to optimize their care and well-being. I additionally serve as the Associate Director for Clinical and Translational Research for the Arkansas Children's Research Institute where I work with ACRI team members and UAMS Department of Pediatrics faculty to identify opportunities to increase the number of clinical trials available to children and adolescents receiving medical care in Arkansas.
