Cancer Research Interest
- Disease Site Focus: No Specific Disease Site
- Research Focus Area: Treatment
- Type of Research: Basic, Translational
- Research Keywords: Metastasis, Cell Adhesion
- Research Interest Statement: Rho family GTPase proteins are molecular regulators of a number of cellular functions including cytoskeletal rearrangement and cellular adhesion. These processes are often dysregulated in cancer and contribute to metastasis. Our lab is focused on understanding what role this protein family plays in tumorigenesis and metastasis. My project is focused on the role of atypical Rho GTPases in invasion and metastasis. Utilizing several cancer cell lines, I aim to elucidate the role of dysregulated atypical Rho GTPases during invasion through in-depth proteomic analysis and an in vivo approach. I also hope to uncover alternative forms of regulation of Rho family GTPases to uncover novel therapeutic targets.
