• Research Interest Statement: Main cancer research focus is on transplant oncology; international benchmark comparative analyses on hepatobiliary cancer surgery and disparities in access to operative liver cancer care; expansion of liver allograft utilization on eligible transplant oncology candidates with the use of marginal organs and the application of machine preservation technologies; application of novel immunotherapies and locoregional treatment as downstaging options in hepatocellular carcinoma as a bridge to liver transplant. UAMS lead in the following cancer-related research projects: UAMS site PI on the International phase II study on liver transplantation for end-stage liver disease adults with very early intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Hospital Lead and among the US Country Leaders for the International Liver Surgery Outcomes (LiverGroup) and the International Pancreas Surgery Outcomes (PancreasGroup) Benchmark Studies. Local PI of the embarking Bridge to Hope Liver Clinical Trial (hypothermic machine preservation in liver transplant. Collaborator on Oncolytic viral therapies for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. Member of ILTS Transplant Oncology Special Interest Group. Spearheaded and published large scale national and international comparative studies on optimising DCD liver allograft utilization and outcomes; on pancreatic cancer and on hepatocellular carcinoma. Peer reviewer and guest editor in high impact surgical, transplant and cancer journals.
