Cancer Research Interest
- Disease Site Focus: Thoracic/ Lung, GI
- Research Focus Area: Carcinogenesis, Treatment
- Type of Research: Translational, Clinical
- Research Keywords: tumor immunology, carcinogensis, tumor biomarkers
- Research Interest Statement: I am working on identifying the molecular underpinning of metastatic cancer and to determine if this phenomenon is a gain of function or the 'retention' of function. Additionally, we are studying the possibility to determine the probability of cure shortly after starting immune therapy for metastatic cancer. Such measure could then be used to guide treatment selection, duration and inform prognostication activity for the patient and other health professionals. Finally, we are applying the current understanding of cancer immunology to see if surgical metastasectomy is curative by providing the debulking function only for immune-prone cancers. Once confirmed, this would be invaluable in guiding surgeons, oncologists and patients in decision making when resection of oligometastatic cancer is considered.
